The five “GINfluencers” you will meet at GIN JUBILEE 2018

Once again, Singapore is the host city for Asia’s biggest gin festival >> the East Imperial Gin Jubilee – An annual fixture on our parched calendar, marked by an epic string of festivities featuring the juniper-based spirit as a social lubricant.

Having done it’s “Asia tour” for the past coupla’ months, the festival culminates in a Grand Finale right here in Singapore where the organizers crown“Asia’s Best Gin & Tonic” by way of popular vote.

We’ll get to that later. But for now, we present you 5 GINS and their ambassadors (we shall call them GINfluencers) you should meet, sip n greet at GIN JUBILEE 2018

“I’ll be at Gin Lane drinking a new and exciting flavour by Tanglin Gin – on the rocks” – Charlie van Eeden

WHO: CHARLIE VAN EEDEN ~ GINfluencer @tanglinginofsingapore

WHAT: Co-Founder of Tanglin Gin

WHY would we love Tanglin Gin?: Firstly, as the brand’s tagline boldly claims: Tanglin Gin is inspired by Singapore’s multi-cultural heritage, the best of Singapore meets the best of botanicals at Singapore’s 1st Gin Distillery. The country’s national flower features prominently, with a cool #didyouknow fact thrown in by its co-founder Charlie “the Orchid is number one on the Traditional Chinese Medicine list for Immortality.”

WHO: ADAM WESTBROOK ~ GINfluencer @theginquisitor

WHAT: Ambassador of Paper Lantern Gin

WHY would we love Paper Lantern Gin?: Paper Lantern is a gin reimagined. It’s a modern Asian re-imagining of a more traditional style of gin that existed before London Dry became the dominant style. It’s also truly grain-to-glass as the base spirit is made at the distillery from rice. With Asian botanicals and finished with a kiss of Longan honey, it’s the perfect ‘sipping gin’ as you watch the world go by. As gin producers diversify, not just producing the same dry gins with the same botanical blends any more, these drinks are having fresh life breathed into them. Try asking your bartender for the 20th Century Cocktail made with Paper Lantern. How the Sichuan pepper in Paper Lantern Gin blends with the creme de cacao is really wonderful.

“East Lantern gin and tonic at the Fullerton hotel. The orange and ginger syrup really work nicely with Paper Lantern Gin. East Imperial grapefruit tonic water gives it a wonderful balance.”

“I’ll be at Gin Lane drinking a Rare Dry Gin and tonic with orange, naturally!” – Sam Ng

WHO: SAM NG ~ GINfluencer @fourpillarsgin

WHAT: Ambassador of Four Pillars Gin

WHY would we love Four Pillars Gin?:

All gins are unique due to their choice of botanicals and distillation method. Our gin(s) are phenomenal and unique due to the use of select Australian native botanicals that are specific to us, Lemon myrtle and Tasmanian pepper leaf, and also our chosen method of distillation through some extremely beautiful and fantastic handcrafted stills by the best still makers in the world, Carl still makers from Germany.

What this really translates to in the real world is some of the boldest tasting, but cleanest and most approachable gins in the world. Well balanced, complex without being overly complicated, we think our gins are amongst the best in the world, and we’re chuffed that the rest of the world thinks so too, with the most awards for any Gin company in the southern hemisphere and our Navy Strength gin being the worlds most awarded navy strength gin anywhere.

“Rare Dry Gin and tonic with orange, naturally!”

“I’ll be at Gin Lane drinking an Old Thing Back at 28 HongKong Street, an Unusual Mulled at Oxwell & Co as well as an Unusual Fusion at Publico. Naturally you’ll find me drinking all three at Gin Lane!” – Charmaine Thio

WHO: CHARMAINE THIO ~ GINfluencer @crazycocktailcat

WHAT: Ambassador of Hendricks Gin

WHY would we love Hendricks Gin?:

Hendrick’s is the only gin that is distilled in two utterly dissimilar stills that produce two completely different distillates which are blended together by our wizard of a Master Distiller Lesley Gracie. Hendrick’s Gin also includes two rather unexpected infusions of rose and cucumber, making it quite the gin made oddly.

“I’ll be at Gin Lane drinking a… Humpback’s “King’s Oasis” featuring pickled green mango and ulam raja leaves, and Smoke & Mirrors’ “Rasa-Pura” that uses toasted barley and gula melaka.” – Scott Fitzgerald

WHO: SCOTT FITZGERALD ~ GINfluencer @rumandwhisky

WHAT: Ambassador of Botanist Gin

WHY would we love Botanist Gin?:

I don’t believe there is ever a case of one gin being better than each other. The category of Gin has a tipple for every type of person and palate, but I can tell you about what makes The Botanist so unique. The 22 hand-foraged botanicals that we use in the production of The Botanist, all of which are sourced locally around our home of Islay, allow us to impart a unique terroir-driven complexity that is unique only to our gin. The Botanist Gin prides itself on remaining true to the flavours of Islay, and from that pride we get an incredible gin.
