DRINK HERE: CHRISTINA'S
06 May 2025 By David Fuhrmann-Lim
Christina’s at Mondrian Duxton Has a Signature And Classic Cocktail Menu That Works A Treat With The New Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
Nestled in the heart of Duxton, Christina’s is a sanctuary amidst the surfeit of shophouses in the area. It’s part of the Mondrian Singapore Duxton, but visually also not a part of it (read: clever design). The space overlooks the Duxton hood, and embodies simplicity with thoughtful modern touches (lush tropical foliage), organic cosiness (tones of brushed bronze, jade green, dusty pinks), and a warm inviting spirit.
And, I’m happy to say, it now has a revised Mediterranean menu that is homely, heartfelt and hearty. Let’s dig in.
Designed for intimacy and connection, the space is perfect for everything from morning journaling over a flat white to spontaneous coffee catchups that evolve into dinner.
Chef Federico Scordo brings soulful Mediterranean flavours and modern finesse, serving dishes that invite connection, comfort, and a true taste of la dolce vita. The menu celebrates produce from land and sea, such as seafood dishes reminiscent of seaside trattorias to plates with legumes, tomatoes, grains, and herbs. Each dish is designed for sharing—a joyful nod to the Mediterranean tradition of gathering around the table.
From specialty coffees and natural wines to ingredient-led small plates, every detail is infused with quiet sophistication and intention.
The wine list is friendly (a rarity in bars these days), and ranges from German Riesling to Spanish Albarino to Kiwi Pinots.
The Pizza Fritta is a lighter, airy take on traditional pizza dough deep-fried with panko crumbs with stracciatella, folds of mortadella and a fresh pesto. Perfect with the house prosecco.
Chef Federico’s respect for ingredients speak for itself. The warm embrace of the menu is hearty, eschewing theatrics for soulfulness — it’s honest food made through modern techniques.
Sunday Morning Cartoons (S$22)
Now this a fun and sweet concoction of Abelha Organic Cachaca rum, Earl Grey, milk, and Fruity Froot Loops topped with whipped cream. It leans towards dessert and isn’t for a hardcore drinker. Still, love the loops.
Espresso Martini (S$23). The other classics are S$25.
Definitely a stronger option is the Espresso Martini, a salacious blend of Grey Goose Vodka, Mr Black Cold Brew and espresso. Balanced and bodacious, have this instead of a flat white and it’d set you up nicely for desserts.
The signature cocktails, like this Plum & Proper, are all S$22.
This has a can’t-go-wrong mix of Barsol Pisco, Mancino Sakura Vermouth, Lillet Blanc and slated plum. The result is a frothy and flavourful cocktail that will serve any purpose.
All in, I’d recommend Christina’s if you’re in the hood. The food is comforting and full of character (especially the Pistacio Tiramisu), and the cocktails are clever and well done.
High tea: Friday – Sunday (2–5 pm). The new high tea menu features a mix of savoury and sweet bites, such as Mediterranean classics of Pita Bread with tzatziki, honey and roasted pistachios at S$78++ for two.
The ala carte menu is available daily (8 – 11 pm). More information on Christina’s here.
