The 9th Edition of Whisky Live Singapore (2-4 Nov) Will Take Place At Andaz Hotel, Featuring The Rising Stars of The Industry And Some 70 Whisky And Spirit Brands.
Keep Your Spirits High
It’s the 9th Edition of Whisky Live Singapore – a highly anticipated event on every whisky enthusiast’s social calendar. It gets bigger every year, and yet, the team at LMDW seem to outdo themselves year on year. Of course we’re dying to know: What else are they going to bring to the table?
So we steal Mathieu Musnier, General Manager, La Maison du Whisky away from his busy schedule for a quick word:
Parched: How is the 9th edition of Whisky Live Singapore intending to outdo the previous?
Mathieu Musnier: For this 9th edition we moved to beautiful new venue: the Andaz hotel, the new 5-star concept from the Hyatt Group right in the center of the city. We believe it is the best venue we have taken over so far as it presents a really unique scenery to tastes and experiences great whiskies and spirits with its panoramic view of the city. We are also welcoming several brand new exhibitors such as The Auchentoshan and the Chita whisky but also Mount Gay rum and Blanton’s bourbon b. Look out also for the Glenfiddich experimental series and the unique cocktail experiences from Monkey 47, Hendrick’s and Nikka.
Who should we look out for at Whisky Live 2018?
Mathieu Musnier: We have a very large group of international speakers attending Whisky Live this year. Do look out for Luca Gargano and his revolutionary rums, Scott Fitzgerald from Mount Gay, Jamey Merkel for the Auchentoshan, Douglas Cook for The Glendronach, Mario Groteklaes from The Nectar or Daniel Szor from the Cotswolds distillery.
We also have Gregory Vernant travelling all the way from Martinique to present his rum Neisson, Aaron Lawrence travelling all the way from Kentucky to present his Blanton’s bourbon and Fred Siggins coming all the way from Tasmania to present his Sullivan’s Cove whisky.
What are some of the amazing drams we might get to try this year?
Mathieu Musnier: It is really hard to narrow it down to a few as they are so many! For whisky I would say the must try are the Auchentoshan 18, the new Old Pulteney 18, the new Artist Collective line by La Maison du Whisky, the new Connoisseur Choice range by Gordon & McPhail, the new Bruichladdich Black Art #6 and a unique 12 year old Sullivan Cove French Oak bottled specially for Singapore. Do also stop by the Nikka area to experience the iconic Japanese whisky and for the Kavalan to try their range of award winning whiskies.
For rums the must try are the Hampden 46% which is the first official release from the iconic Jamaican distillery in 265 year of existence. Neisson will have their 12 years old aged entirely under the hot Caribbean sun and Mount Gay will have their beautiful XO rum.
What do this year’s tickets come with?
Mathieu Musnier: There are a lot of amazing inclusions in this year’s whisky live tickets. Attendees will be able to try 10 whiskies and one craft cocktail, they will have a dining voucher to use at the Andaz’ F&B venues on the 25th floor, and they will also go home with a Glencairn Whisky nosing glass (value 20 SGD). For those that desire to extend their tasting experiences additional tasting and cocktail coupons will be available as well. All in all Whisky Live remains the most premium whisky and spirits tasting show, and we look forward to welcoming all at this unique evening experience.
