David Fuhrmann-Lim

Curator

I love to take pop-culture down the rabbit hole, as a patron saint of black humour, Buddha of beats and books, and (officially) a Content Specialist and Brand Editor with many years of editorial and creative experience.

I have worked with MTV Asia, Bauer Media and Singapore Airlines, and am currently the Curator+Editor of Parched, an online magazine devoted to cocktail culture and the booze business. I have written for WallpaperVinePair, the Michelin Guide and am one of the authors of the Louis Vuitton City Guide—Singapore edition. I’ve judged various cocktail competitions, including the Campari Bartending Competition 2019 and Remy Martin Cocktail Competition 2022.

I was also a Contributing Editor at Female Magazine (during which I helped to launch their website (www.femalemag.com.sg) and, before that, was the Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning men’s lifestyle magazine Singapore FHM. While I was there I collaborated with Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific on a marketing project and we won the Gold Award Cannes Lions Festival 2007 for our poster branding campaign.

I also spent three years in MTV Asia’s fledgling seasons as a promos producer/director, where I won awards for various humourous edgy spots.

I have published two books (Sniffing The Equator, 99). 99 Stories Dreams Poems just won a Pencil at London’s D&AD 2017 Awards.

My two plays Scratching and Syzygy won the first and second prizes at Action Theatre’s 10-Minute Playwriting Contest.

I photograph as well, but you already knew that.

What's a perfect ice cube? No, not the rapper/actor's best roles, but the best-looking ice cubes for your cocktails at home. How do you make them without those fancy thousand-dollar gizmos?

Love your tapas? Flying Monkey offers a fresh new take with their contemporary pan-Indian fare. Plus there's a bearded bartender serving spiced-up cocktails to take the heat off.

Let's admit it - we're suckers for beautiful and cool design. On a crowded shelf, the most awesome label is gonna stand out. A look at Anagrama – brilliant label and packaging designers.

Eccentrically British outlet Oxwell & Co offers its latest blends, tea-infused cocktails, on its rooftop garden bar. But you have to work hard to get it.

Aki Wang is considered the Godfather of Taiwanese cocktails, a pioneer who has bridged Chinese ingredients with international cocktails to create something unique. And he's made us an offer we couldn't refuse.

René Redzepi's done a pop-up, vending machine meals are a thing and the dollar is relatively strong—all in the Land of the Rising Sun. What more do you need to convince you to take a trip to Tokyo?

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single sip. Meaning: we recently tried a bourbon that traveled the world. And the travel did it good.

The bar program at the Warehouse Hotel lobby is inspired by its naughty history, but it's also innovative and fun (so yeah, no reinterpretation of the Sling). What should you look out for?
