SAKE FESTIVAL IS BACK!

22 May 2023 By

Sake Festival is Back. Mark Your Drinking Calendar: 17 June 2023

We remember most of the 2019 Sake Festival, the last one before the Big C interrupted our social lives. But organiser Orihara is having none of that, and so the mega and fondly remembered Sake Festival is back — bigger and badder. The 8th edition will be held on 17 June 2023 (Saturday), 2-7 pm at Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre, Level 3, Summit Hall 1 > Buy your tickets and packages here.

Sake Festival 2023

Here’s what to expect:

• The festival will feature more than 300 labels.

• There will be more than 35 sake breweries represented by their Toji and brewers.

• For the first time, the festival will also introduce ultra-premium sake for sale by the glass ($10-15). These include the world’s first 1% (Rice Polishing Rate) Tatenokawa Junmai Daigonjo Komyo ($1790/btl); crowd favourite Dassai Beyond ($480/btl); and Sekiya Shuzo’s epic Houraisen Arcadia II 2019 Kimoto Junmai Daiginjo ($550/btl).

Storm Cowboy Sake Festival 2023

Ohmine’s Storm Cowboy series by Pharrell x Nigo (Bathing Ape) will be available at the fest.

• Bonus: Suntory will be serving all variants of their Premium Malt beers; the Premium Malt and Premium Malt Black is available alongside the special edition Kaoru and the limited edition Master’s Dream. The beers are not priced separately and are included in the ticket price.

Take note of the two special pre-festival events:

• Sensorial Adventures: A Masterclass by Chiba Marie (15 June, 3-5pm at Orihara, Tan Boon Liat Building.)

Sake Samurai Chiba Marie will conduct her world-renowned masterclass on Sake pairing with eight different types of Sake and food. She will discuss the relationships between ingredients and Sake with respect to taste and flavour and also explain her unique technique of In-Mouth Seasoning and Pairing in her research.

$200/person nett; there are 25 seats available, limited to participants with food and drink certification or working in the relevant field.

The eight-course sake pairing dinner will showcase the Michelin Bib Gourmand’s famed Yakitori dishes plus highlights from Chiba Marie’s bar Eureka, Tokyo. One of the Sakes is her collaborative brew with Senkin that is not available anywhere else except at Eureka.
