BIG FLAVOURS, SMALL FOOTPRINTS

Our New Favourite Champagne is Also Good For The Environment — That’s Worth Celebrating.
Champagne Telmont, founded in 1912 and still family-owned, has kept pace with modernity through its sustainable and visionary practices. The House is located in Damery, near Épernay, France and is run by its fourth generation heirs, who are championing organic agriculture for part of its vineyard and innovating with new ideas to help preserve the environment.
So what you get from the brand is a luscious style of champagne — intense yet fresh, angelic yet structured — expressed through its terroir and techniques.
Fun Fact: Champagne Telmont is experimenting with newer glass bottles that are 20 per cent lighter than a regular bubbly heavyweight, which will result in reduced carbon emissions and hence, less carbon footprint. Less glass means less CO2 in the melting and manufacturing of glass, and also less fuel for transport, both upstream and downstream.
The details are in the bottle: edition, percentage of grapes, style et al.
The Rose is an intense yet fruity delight; the Vinotheque 2012 vintage is organic, cosy and complex with notes of citrus, pears and almonds. The one I love is the unassuming Brut Reserve, with its bracing earthiness, mix of energy and tension, and spicy palette of tropical fruits and minerality.
The House is very enthusiastic and optimistic about its sustainable collaboration. If its green bottles prove to be marketable, Telmont will launch the House’s first 800-gram bottles of ‘Telmont Réserve Brut’ (aged a minimum of three years) from 2025 — an initiative that could potentially benefit the Champagne region to help collectively reduce its carbon footprint.
Fun Fact: Actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio is a minority shareholder in Champagne Telmont.
Tippling Club’s new Terrace is a new spot to enjoy this bubbly, especially with this one-off menu created specially by Chef Ryan Clift:
That’s SG$130++ for three Telmont Champagne flights and radical snacks.
A selection of Telmont Champagne is retailing online at Bottles & Bottles and the Atelier. Telmont Champagne’s range is also available at select venues in Singapore, including 28 HongKong Street, Analogue, Artemis, ATLAS, Burger & Lobster Raffles, Offtrack, Restaurant JAG and Smoke & Mirrors.
For its affordable price point, the value and quality can’t be beat. You may or may not be drinking the stars, but I reckoned an angel smiled each time I took a sip of Telmont.
