SAKE MATSURI 2023

11 Mar 2023 By

If You Only Go to Two Events This Year, Then Make Both The Sake Matsuris Your Drinking Highlight. The Second Edition For 2023 is Happening on 1-2 April — Get Your Tickets Now.

We’ll say it now: Get your tickets pronto. The early bird ones have flown the coop, and with a slightly more cosy venue this time around, you’re looking at a premiere sake event that is growing year by year.

Here’s what you can look forward to on 1-2 April:

• SG’s biggest sake festival is a full 2-day affair and will be held at Urban Park @ Guoco Tower, 1 Wallich Street.

• You’ll get to sample a wide variety of competition-winning sakes (over 200), seasonal releases and sake that have never been available in Singapore. “Considering that Junmai Daiginjo and Junmai Ginjo make up only about three per cent of total sake production in Japan, Singapore has great access to premium sake, which is a sign of the market’s voracious appetite for the beverage. This is why top-grade sake is consistently presented at Sake Matsuri,” said Mr Adrian Goh, Director of Inter Rice Asia, one of the festival’s largest participating distributors.

Sake Matsuri 2023

•  The debut of collaboration sake: Yaegaki x Willin Low. The Hyogo-based brewery Yaegaki, which has a history of 350 years of brewing expertise, has partnered Singapore Chef Willin Low to create RASEN, a new blended sake made specially to be paired with Singapore’s unique cuisine.

• Leading up to the festival, sake enthusiasts can look forward to a line-up of masterclasses and sake pairing dinners conducted by Sake Matsuri Singapore’s network of sake sommeliers and industry experts. More details here.

• Yaesen Awamori from Yaesen Syuzo in Okinawa. Brewed and refined over 65 years since Yaesen’s establishment, this Awamori can be described as the cornerstone of Yaesen Syuzo. It has a robust and fragrant aroma typical of Awamori, a sharp and well-balanced flavour, and a deep sweetness derived from black malted rice and Ishigaki Island’s direct distillation.

• There are sake pairing events as well. One to highlight: Sake Soiree at Wagatomo with Elliot Faber and Adrian Goh. You’ll get nine courses of Wagatomo’s innovative Japanese cuisine paired with sakes from Matsuri, and the company of experts to walk you through them.
