Our friends at Liquor.com have published a cosmic suggestion of what to drink, based on your star sign. Better be safe than sorry, we say!

FEBRUARY, 2016:

Our friends at Liquor.com have published the following guide on what to drink this month, based on your star sign.

llustrations: Ariel Dunitz-Johnson

“What’s your sign?”

It’s one of the cheesiest and most gag-inducing pickup lines, and chances are you’ve either used it on someone (hopefully jokingly) or been asked the question yourself—and that the encounter probably happened at a bar.

There’s something to the question, though. But not in the way you think. If you put your zodiac sign to the test, you may find that the universe is telling you to try something unexpected, like that you should try a gin cocktail instead of whiskey?

During the transition from Capricorn to Aquarius, as well as a strong full moon on January 23 and the end of Mercury’s retrograde on January 25, we’re all feeling a little shaken up from this surge of energy—and likely in need of a cocktail.

Here are some ideas of what to drink, based on your sign.

AQUARIUS: JANUARY 21 TO FEBRUARY 18

You should be drinking a Cafe Panama this month.

During the monthlong eclipse in February, it’s a good time to reflect on the past six months, since the last eclipse in September. Notice any recurring themes? Take note and pay attention to details—a little self-examination never hurt anyone, especially Aquarians, who tend to be aloof and intelligent at once. This is good time to ramp up the communication, whether it be taking meetings, making coffee dates or, of course, getting drinks with colleagues and friends. This month, try a sweet Cafe Panama.

PISCES: FEBRUARY 19 TO MARCH 20

You should be drinking a Whiskey Skin this month.

If anyone took the start of the new year to reflect—and, yes, list those resolutions—it’s Pisces. Looking back on the past several months is an excellent way to look ahead too, and as birthday season approaches, there’s never been a better time to focus on your self-identity and make some goals for the coming season. It might feel like a lot to think about, but you can handle it. Fight fatigue and be sure to rest up too. And to drink? The Whiskey Skin, for when you’re cold or have a cold.

ARIES: MARCH 21 TO APRIL 20

You should be drinking a Plum Toddy this month.

Now is the time to maximize communications, whether it’s for networking, job searching or meeting a new friend or love interest. More than ever, your magnetism can be felt, and the ever-energetic Aries is now showing signs of slowing down. Keep the charm on full blast and trust that you will get through this busy period. Keep warm and mix things up a bit with this twist on the Hot Toddy, the Plum Toddy.

TAURUS: APRIL 21 TO MAY 21

You should be drinking Glögg this month.

Venus just won’t leave you alone, Taurus. Yet another month of harmonious relationships and increased charms makes now the prime time to date. Already matched up? Socializing takes shape in many forms. Should you be inclined to stay in with Netflix and takeout, step out of your comfort zone. Resist the urge to hibernate, but do take a Scandinavian approach to imbibing and opt for some Glögg, which is sure to hit the spot on a winter’s night.

GEMINI: MAY 22 TO JUNE 21

You should be drinking a Hornitos Hot Shotty this month.

Work, play, love and money—Geminis are juggling it all this month and making it look easy to boot. February is a harmonious month, and now it the time to capitalize on things going right in your life. Give everyone and everything (deserving) your attention, and watch things flourish. Creativity comes fast and furiously, so keep a journal and capitalize on the wave of ideas. Make your cocktail choices equally unique: A Hornitos Hot Shotty is spiked hot chocolate done right.

CANCER: JUNE 22 TO JULY 22

You should be drinking a Heated Affair this month.

That moment when things come together with little or no effort? Yep, welcome to February—what a time to be a Cancer. “Ask and you shall receive” is the theme of the month for this imaginative water sign, so choose wisely. Think about what you want, what you really really want, and then ask. If favors are being handed out in spades to anyone, it’s you, so put a bit of thought behind your intentions, and watch what happens. Keep things easy with your drink orders too: If hot cider and tequila sounds like a perfect pairing, mix up a Heated Affair and start sipping.

LEO: JULY 23 TO AUGUST 22

You should be drinking a Patrinos this month.

The patience and perseverance that Leos have exhibited isn’t letting up, and despite the challenges of February, there’s no stopping you. A new moon on Febraury 8 signals just that: something new. Use this time to take a class, learn a new language or even switch up your fitness routine. (Aerial yoga, anyone?) Think outside the box when it comes to your choice in cocktails, too. Case in point: When a Hot Toddy gets the Greek treatment, it’s called a Patrinos—it’s at once spicy and sweet and definitely different.

VIRGO: AUGUST 23 TO SEPTEMBER 23

You should be drinking a Tea & Sympathy this month.

Hang on tight, Virgo, February might just be a bumpy ride of a month for you. Before the full moon on the 22nd, things on the homefront might seem unsettled (signing a lease, redecorating, home repairs, etc.), but after the lunar eclipse, things settle down—something this observant Earth sign will appreciate. Take a step back from the craziness when you need to, and be sure to feed your body and soul as it asks for nourishment. And to drink? The spicy and gingery Tea & Sympathy is a warming sipper, an update on the Hot Toddy, where whiskey gets replaced by cachaça.

LIBRA: SEPTEMBER 24 TO OCTOBER 22

You should be drinking a Hendrick’s Hot Gin Punch this month.

For some, this month is stressful, hectic and possibly a little scary. Not so for Libras, though the scale sign never lets life disrupt the balance, at least not for too long. February brings harmony and easy, in making plans, communication, socializing and negotiation. Ask for what you want, now more than ever, and you just might be surprised who answers you back. Friends will take notice and likely swarm around you. You’ll be pleased as punch. Speaking of, Hendrick’s Hot Gin Punch will keep your next party festive and friends happy. Cheers to that.

SCORPIO: OCTOBER 23 TO NOVEMBER 22

You should be drinking a Grand Coffee this month.

Love and affection are the theme of the month, but it’s a bit of a roller coaster at that. With the highs and lows of the relationships (old and new) in your life, comes friction, tension and eventually, after the monthlong eclipse, calm and harmony. Hang on, it might be a bumpy ride of a month, but resourceful Scorpios will hang on and persevere. Treat yourself right at any given chance—you deserve it after all—and sweeten your usual nightcap and indulge with a Grand Coffee.

SAGITTARIUS: NOVEMBER 23 TO DECEMBER 21

You should be drinking an I Left My Heart in Jalisco this month.

While your social skills and charm are never fully at rest, not everyone is so easily engaged with you right now, Sagittarius. The full moon toward the end of the month brings a period of heightened sensitivity and possibly a blow to your ego. Don’t stress out though: With tension comes calmness, and with conflict comes resolution. This is a challenging time but nothing this independent fire sign can’t handle—and a drink might help too. Warm, spicy and sweet, mix up the I Left My Heart in Jalisco sipper, and toast to a new month.

CAPRICORN: DECEMBER 22 TO JANUARY 20

You should be drinking a Milk & Honey this month.

Cash rules everything around you, Capricorn, and now is no different. Take charge of your finances: create a budget, consolidate debt, pay off bills. Sure it sounds boring, but a monthlong eclipse in February brings a heightened sense of financial awareness. Lest you think this month is all work and no play, have no fear. Your magnetic energy will keep attracting people into your orbit, but it’s up to you to decide who to keep around. Speaking of friends, the Milk & Honey cocktail is easy to make and even easier to drink. Whip up a batch—this could be made to drink either hot or cold—for those you love and love to drink with.
