BEER FEST ASIA 2014

23 Jun 2014 By

You’d assume that by the 6th Beerfest Asia, the opening day curtain-raiser would be Beer effervescent tablets and door-gifts would include bacon-flavoured hangover-cure pizza. But hang on to your stubbys, what we saw, did not disappoint either.

As festival veterans, we’ll have you know that we made it through this one in a few pieces, which includes a few beers in hand, in pocket, in backpack, a credit card bill for some casks purchased, 15 drunk-dials (only!), phone-pics of great sightings and discoveries and scantily-clad promoters, and this awesome review.

You’re welcome.

BeerFest2014 did not fail to electrify the arena with a jolt of scabrous energy. Flowing with beer and others, on a scorching hot and humid Singaporean day, by the grounds of the Singapore Flyer, it was the ideal 3-day oiling up this city needs.

Here are our favourite moments.

1. This jumbo Jack Daniel’s phallic balloon

2. Air-Conditions on OverDrive – so on a hot day we are kept on ice and on the rocks.

3. Exotic drinks we don’t know jack about, but love the taste of

 4. (Asian) Promoters we don’t understand but we really do

5. Gummi Bears are ALWAYS a good idea – even if they are blended and shaken and stirred and served

6. Two words: Lovely Melons

7. The Bears, the Bees, and the Honey

11. Cocktails.Cocktails.Cocktails

This cocktail was a blend of vodka and fruit juice, topped with a paper cone filled with candied ginger and kaffir lime leaves. The burning releases the aroma of the kaffir leaves and infuses it into the drink. For maximum impact of a combination of sour, bitter and a spicy herbal sweetness, take a sip of the cocktail and pop a candied ginger into your mouth.
