Meet a Martini, that’s both killer and saviour.

SUMMER, 2014

Welcome to the legendary Naughty Nuri’s, Bali – famed for her barbecued pork ribs and killer – or should we say, saviour – martinis.

When you make it past the queue, a scantily clad, live-size papier-mâché pig, hung from the ceiling, greets you. The restaurant walls are messily lined with framed photos and odd knick-knacks, and literally dotted in bottle-caps, and whenever there’s get a chance, a “naughty but nice” tongue-in-cheek joke is splashed across a poster. 

The patrons are an interesting mix of flip-flop-wearing locals and wife-beater wearing tourists, aged sorority meets overweight fraternity, couples on their >4th date,  all with one thing in common – a hunger for lip-smacking slab of ribs, slathered in sticky, peppery magic sauce, best accompanied with an 8inch PORN CORN (not even making this up). 

But the star of the show is the martini.

The martinis are shaken in front of guests, and practically the entire restaurant is invited to join in as the staff sings and chants and dances in unison “SHAKE. SHAKE. and SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAAAAAAAAKE!!!” much to the welcome and shouts and wolf-whistles of patrons, before they serve you the ice-cold-killer martinis.

And that’s not all. A sign on the table informs you that % receipts from every order of a martini goes to “SAFE CHILDHOODS FOUNDATION – Indonesia”.

*applause* and *hiccup* “CHEERS! FOR THE KIDS!!!” we say, as we order another round.

And another.

And one for the road.
