COCKTAILS ON CALL
18 Apr 2020 By Ben Chin
So, We Can’t Go to the Bars During This CB (Circuit Breaker) Period. Thankfully, the Bars Are Coming to Us.
No doubt, it’s a difficult time for the local F&B industry right now, so whatever support we can render is more than welcome, it’s essential. Here are just a few ways we can bring the bar experience right into our homes.
Bottled cocktails aren’t terribly new but they’re #trending right now. Singapore’s gin distillery Brass Lion has kicked off a initiative to help local bars blend and bottle cocktails at their licensed facility. Participating bars (there’s Smoke & Mirrors, Bee’s Island Drinkery, IB HQ in the mix atm) pay a fee to cover a portion of the costs of bottles, labels and delivery, and Brass Lion takes care of the rest, with all the profits going to the bars. Each (200ml) bottle will retail from $32 to $45. If you wanna play bartender at home, consider the Circuit Breaker Survival Kit (below), that includes a miniature bottle of gin and 2 mixers.
Have a house party, says 28 Hong Kong Street. And they’re making it a cinch with their new takeaway and delivery service.
Besides a stellar food and drinks menu (cocktails, beers and champagne included), a successful house party demands some killer jams. Well, the 28HKS House Party experience includes access to a curated Spotify playlist with some of 28’s favourite tunes. You can even Zoom the team in and they’ll join in the festivities, sharing details and stories about each cocktail selected for the party.
All offerings are available for takeaway or delivery by advance order between 5 to 10 pm, Tuesday through Saturday via WhatsApp (+65 8318 0328) or email (findus@28hks.com). 1 to 2 days of advance notice is requested on any House Party orders for the experience to be curated accordingly. Payment can be made via PayPal.me/28HKS for deliveries, and cash or credit card for takeaway.
Atlas, one of our perennial favourite bars, really has it down to a fine art, launching a new online retail store as well as a takeaway menu. Besides the gins the bar is so famous for, the shop also has bottled cocktails, cocktail sets and gifts. Yeah, it’s not the same as drinking your G&T in that beautiful Art Deco setting, but with these, you can close your eyes, and fake it until you make it back. Even better, what you see on the online shop is just the tip of the boozy iceberg; there’s an extensive list of gins, wines and champagnes available for purchase from Atlas directly via email or WhatsApp.
Delivery hours: Monday – Friday from 12noon to 6pm. Free home delivery for all orders above $100. Orders can be placed via WhatsApp at +65 9739 5591 or via email at info@atlasbar.sg
One of favourite new openings of 2020 is Barbary Coast, and while we miss a jolly time at Deadfall and the oh-so-charming Ballroom, we don’t have to miss the cocktails. Have a look at their offerings below.
Fung Kee is our go-to for a cheeky late night hotdog and cocktail, so we’re doggone happy that they’re delivering. It’s my idea of an adult Happy Meal – 6 classic hotdogs and 6 pouch negronis for $118. For a limited time, the negronis are made with award-winning Hernö Gin from Sweden. Best part? They promise delivery within one hour!
WhatsApp +65 98380436 for orders from 5pm to 11pm. $80 min spending for free delivery or $15 delivery fee applies.
Pocket bar Junior is expanding its reach with Junior At Home bottled cocktails (and DIY food kits). All cocktails are pre-mixed, properly diluted and arrive chilled and ready to drink. Garnishes, nice ice and premium mixers are also included where needed. Servings come in 700ml bottles (5 to 9 servings).
Simply Instagram, SMS, WhatsApp or call the bar at +65 8121 1462 to make your orders. All orders made before 6 pm will see same day delivery, or you can self-collect until 10 pm each night. Free delivery is available for $130 and above.
We applaud their efforts of collecting empty bottles back to be cleaned and reused.
Manhattan has also entered the frey with its delicious, delicious cocktails. Signatures like the Manhattan and the Chocolate Negroni (Widges dry gin, Mozart dark chocolate liqueur, Campari & Mancino Rosso vermouth) are available in 350ml bottles at $118 nett each. Barrel-aged cocktails from the rickhouse such as Solera-aged Negronis are 100ml and go for $24 nett. As the ageing process is mercurial, the selection changes to feature what is ready for release, so go check the delivery menu for what’s available.
If you want to takeaway, the self-collection counter is on Level 1 (next to Dolcetto), from 9am to 9.30pm. For delivery, email diningreservations@regentsingapore.com.sg or call 6725 3057
Base rate for delivery is $10 plus $0.30 for every kilometre. Delivery charges are waived for orders above $100 and charged only at 50% for orders above $50.
Love the beautiful bottles from Mandarin Oriental’s MO Bar. Choose from 140ml options ($18) or go big with the 700ml ($85). If you like variety, as we do, you can get a selection of 6 for $100 (below).
Free delivery for orders over $80. Same day delivery until 10:15pm.
The Other Room has also launched their Cask-Finished Spirits & Wines Home Deliveries.
WhatsApp at +65 8300 6085 to receive the Home Delivery Menu.
Scan the QR Code they’ll send and make the money transfer, then send a screenshot to confirm the transaction, together with your detailed home delivery address.
Orders can be placed 24/7. Delivery daily from 4pm to 12am. Free delivery for all orders above $100.
William Grant & Sons is doing something a little different. Via Zoom, cocktail lovers are invited to its 1887 Virtual Bar featuring rotating “guest shifts” by bartenders like Shin Gi Tai’s Sam Wong and Nutmeg & Clove’s Colin Chia.
Together with WGS brand ambassadors Brett Bayly and Charmaine Thio, the weekly initiative aims to raise funds for local bars. Supporters can buy a “digital cocktail” for $20 – essentially a voucher for when the bars resume operations. WGS will match the value of donations, up to $1000 per bar. Bars who are keen to participate can register their interest here.
The list will be updated whenever new info comes in so keep watching this space. Bars that would like to be featured, slide on into our DMs!
