7 Things to Know About The Garage – With its Cosy New Outdoor Botanico Bar in The Singapore Botanic Gardens.

The Singapore Botanic Gardens has a new F&B destination called The Garage, which houses the cafe Bee’s Knees, a modern bistro Botanico, and a cocktail garden in the outdoor terrace. It’s a lot of names and info to take in, so let us break it down for you.

1  The Garage in the Singapore Botanic Gardens houses the two aforementioned F&B outlets: Bee’s Knees and Botanico. The Garage is a 1920s Art Deco conservation building built between 1927-1928. The two-storey building was throughout its time the garage for the cars of college professors and a residence for their drivers.

2  Located on Level 2 and helmed by Spanish-born Chef Antonio Oviedo, Botanico at The Garage is a contemporary-bistro, with a seasonality-driven menu, using the elements of soil, sea and land in its cuisine.

3 ‘Bistronomy’ is the key word here: A thriving culinary ethos based on the values of freedom, spirit and conviviality as pertains to food and dining. It’s big in Europe.

5 In the verdant setting, you’re best off with simple pleasing cocktails like martinis and gin tonics. One to have is the signature Garage Gin ‘Onic or the Thyme Lemonade. It’s not fully equipped to whip up a Corpse Reviver II or Dark & Stormy, so stick to the signatures, and kick back, and enjoy the serenity.

6 Did we mention, The Botanic Gardens is Singapore’s first Unesco World Heritage Site?

7 And then there’s the Bee’s Knees out front, a fun, laidback, family and pet-friendly all-day-dining garden café and bistro, with takeaway options and retail offerings. If you’re exercising in the gardens, this is a perfect pitstop.
